Village School: Grades K-6
Our Village School provides young learners with a solid educational foundation through carefully planned instructional goals and objectives. Essential learning skills, cooperative social behavior, appreciation of the arts, good study habits, and physical coordination are sequentially developed for each grade level. Teachers concentrate not only on what students learn but how students learn. We incorporate an approach emphasizing the active learning process. This process, which encourages cooperative learning, includes problem solving and discussions.

Middle School: Grades 7-8
One of the main goals in the Middle School is to complete the transition from the self-contained classrooms of the primary and elementary grades to the departmental structure of the Upper School, thus ensuring an articulated kindergarten through twelfth-grade continuum. Aside from linking with the earlier grades, the curriculum is organized carefully in a coherent 7-12 structure, while also incorporating cross-curricular themes, skills, and content appropriate to Middle School students. As a result, they are presented with courses that are simultaneously suited to their needs and strongly linked to the sequential structure required to coordinate most effectively with the Upper School program. This powerful curriculum combines with the many offerings in sports, the arts, clubs and outdoor education to provide Middle School students a cornucopia of opportunities. The natural byproducts are increased student responsibility, empathy, independence and self-esteem, which are the most vital goals of all at this age.

Upper School: Grades 9-12
Consistent with Chadwick’s mission, the Upper School strives to develop in students academic excellence, exemplary character, and discovery through experience. As a means to the first goal, the academic curriculum provides students with a broad base of knowledge in English, history, science, math, foreign language, and the fine arts while also offering depth of knowledge with many honors and advanced placement courses from the ninth through the twelfth grade. Exemplary character is developed primarily through the close relationships between students and the faculty, who in addition to teaching, serve as advisors to students and participate in one or more extracurricular activities such as coaching or advising activities. Finally, students discover themselves through their experiences in the school’s rich array of co-curricular activities including drama, chorus, orchestra, pep band, the school newspaper, the yearbook, the literary magazine, community service, outdoor education, and 38 different interscholastic teams representing 23 girls’ or boys’ sports.
