Community Service
Chadwick’s community service program is rooted in the belief
that education transcends academic excellence and must also involve the
development of good character. To that end, we offer a large and varied program that engages students in a range of commitments
and areas of interest. Chadwick students are not required to become
involved in community service, but most of them choose to do so.
The program encompasses weekly, monthly, and annual outreach
opportunities. Students avail themselves of these activities depending
on their availability and level of interest in a particular program.
On four afternoons a week, students are driven by parent volunteers
in school vans to one of the several sites that Chadwick School visits.
If you dropped by yourself, you would see Chadwick students tutoring
elementary school students at schools in Wilmington and San Pedro,
interacting with developmentally disabled students, assisting with
projects at local convalescent and retirement homes in the South Bay,
or visiting with people who are diagnosed with cognitive or traumatic
brain injuries.
