Rebecca "Bex" Smith '99 Leads New Zealand Women's World Cup Team

Rebecca "Bex" Smith '99 led New Zealand Women's World Cup team to a heartstopping 2-2 tie with Mexico yesterday in FIFA Women's World Cup action. Go, Dolphin alumni athletes!

Smith, who plays professionally for German team VfL Wolfsburg, also represented New Zealand in the 2008 Olympics and 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup. Smith's solid performances at the helm of New Zealand's rearguard earned her a FIFA Women's World Player of the Year nomination in 2007 and New Zealand Player of the Year in 2007.
