Brandon's

Story

“Last year, I spent two weeks at Chadwick International in South Korea. I made new friends while I was there. I want to go back to C.I. to see my friends, and I want my friends to come visit me here.

I like traveling because you get to see interesting things. I’ve been to Greece, Turkey, France, Spain, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, the Philippines and South Korea. I like treasuries and castles. I want to go to Rome because I read the Percy Jackson books. I want to take sword-fighting lessons and see the Roman ruins.

Most kids like to just play on their iPad for hours. When you travel, you can go out and see new places. People are nice. I’m a picky eater, but when I travel, I try food that I wouldn’t usually eat.

At Chadwick, I get to play with my friends. It’s a big campus. My favorite class is math. It’s easy to make friends who have the same interests as you.”

On Brandon

“I’m an immigrant. I was born in the Philippines and moved to the U.S. at 13 so I knew how big the world is from an early age. I want to make sure Brandon can take advantage of all of the opportunities (traveling offers). There are a lot of intangibles you learn while traveling. You learn how to adapt to different situations. You learn languages other than your own. You learn how to be respectful of other people’s worlds.

Brandon might not appreciate all the architecture, and he might get really bored out of his mind, but he’s learning that there are different ways people do things, and he should be accepting of them. I’ve seen him adapt. I’ve seen him grow as a person. I see an appreciation for music and art.

My husband graduated from Chadwick School in 1988 and had only positive things to say. What we love about Chadwick is that it’s leaps and bounds ahead of when my husband was there. It’s growing with the times. It’s adapting. It’s mirroring the globalization of the world.

I have implicit trust in this school and the core values. The programs might change, but I know Chadwick will do what they feel brings out the best in the kids. If Global Programs is important to you, they make sure you get that aspect. They tailor the experience for you. They’ll help your child find their passion by encouraging them to have different experiences in ways that many school don’t. They want students to spark their passion.”
