Chadwick’s athletic teams met with great success during a winter season that saw the varsity boys basketball team win the Prep League championship for the first time since 2001 and 15 athletes earn All-Prep League honors. On the way to the basketball title and the CIF-SS playoffs, the Dolphins defeated archrival Flintridge Prep, 61-59, with a pair of perfect free throws by senior Ryan Apfel in the game’s final seconds. The team won their first round in playoff competition, but fell to St. Margaret’s in the second round. 

Apfel was subsequently named the Prep League’s MVP for boys basketball; in addition, he garnered All-CIF honorw and was selected to play in the South Bay Athletic Club’s 25^th Annual All Star Boys Basketball Classic. He teamed up with other top basketball players from both public and private high schools throughout the South Bay for the game, held on March 24 at South Torrance High School.

Along with boys basketball, three other teams headed to the winter season CIF-SS playoffs after strong league play: girls soccer, boys soccer and girls water polo. The girls soccer team finished as the Prep League Runner-up under the tutelage of alumna Nicole Gervais. The girls basketball team struggled with injuries all season, but the girls kept their spirits up and are looking forward to a healthier year in 2016.
