Allison's
Story
“Chadwick is like a family. Everyone cares about everyone else. It’s not cutthroat. People inspire each other to do better. We don’t make others feel bad. Collaboration is encouraged.
The idea of being just one thing doesn’t exist. You can be so many things at once. They want you to be multi-dimensional. I play piano, I write for the school newspaper and I’m in orchestra. I do ballet off campus. Next year, I want to do Model UN and my goal is to try a lot of different things in ninth grade.
I think a scholar is someone who always wants to improve. They take feedback and use it to make themselves better. They’re happy if they have a good grade, but are always willing to reach a deeper understanding and use a different technique to solve a problem.
The teachers here are so open. They want you to go to them for extra help. It helped me get so much better. They’re very encouraging.”

on Allison
“Allison is so modest, it’s outstanding. She was performing at Carnegie Hall, and she didn’t tell me. She’s a conscientious student, humble about her accomplishments, and her writing is elegant. She’s very talented, but she practices. She takes feedback, is reflective and wants to figure out how to do better.
In the Middle School, there are high expectations with an enormous amount of scaffolding. There is an enormous amount of extra help and support. Middle School is a big transition from elementary to high school, especially in managing time. We let students make mistakes. They have free time and freedom to be across campus. We’re getting them ready for high school.
Middle School teachers really like Middle School kids. All of us have taught other ages, and all of us have chosen to teach this age group. We have a lot of fun.”
