Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Chadwick students hosted a moving and meaningful assembly to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

With support from Chadwick’s Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the Equity Team and the Student Diversity Council, the Black Student Union celebrated his iconic life and legacy by engaging in compelling content and conversation with their peers.

Middle and Upper School students watched a video of his “I Have a Dream … ” speech given on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1963. Students also shared a video about the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial on the National Mall in D.C., participated in a quiz moderated by BSU students and closed out the assembly with a reading of the poem “In Memoriam: Martin Luther King, Jr.” by June Jordan.

Chadwick students were given the important charge of reflecting on the impact of positive change that has come about thanks to the leadership of one of the Civil Rights Era’s most important figures.
