Last week, Chadwick's K-12 students, faculty and staff took time to honor Veterans Day with heartfelt and meaningful activities.
Upper School parents and a faculty member that have served in the military joined our Middle School and Upper School students for a reverent Veterans Day assembly. Parent veterans Bob Bernstein, David Malone and Mike Good and Upper School math teacher Mike Cass each spoke about why they joined the service, what it meant to them and gave advice to students. A very special thank-you to our parent speakers for coming to the assembly — and to all veterans in our community for your service!
Village School students also gathered together for our annual Heart of the Village (HOV) Veterans Day Assembly. After the Pledge of Allegiance and singing of the National Anthem, student-speakers shared the history of Veterans Day and took turns reading the names of veterans in the Chadwick community, from parents to teachers, alumni and grandparents, some of whom were in attendance.
To commemorate their service, Director of Orchestras Mr. Babcock played a beautiful rendition of “Taps,” and students closed out the ceremony by assembling care packages with sweet treats and hand-written letters thanking military service members for their service to our country. Special thanks to HOV Chairs, Allison Joiner and Medinah Hagan-Morgan, and all of the parent volunteers who helped organize this event!
