Algebra 1B is the second course in a two-year Algebra 1 sequence, designed to solidify foundational algebra skills for students who need additional support with second-semester concepts. This course is ideal for rising 9th graders who have already been introduced to Algebra but would benefit from additional time to develop fluency in graphing linear equations, solving systems of equations, and working with inequalities, polynomials, and quadratic functions. The course also covers radicals, rational expressions, and problem-solving using algebraic methods. This course also helps students strengthen their ability to communicate mathematical reasoning through numeric, graphic, and analytical avenues, applying these tools to solve real-world problems.

Algebra 1B Prerequisites: Students who completed Algebra 1A successfully can take Algebra 1B over the summer. Students who completed Algebra 1 but did not earn a B- or higher will need to take this course.

Eligibility for Advancement: Students must earn a B- or higher in summer Algebra 1B to advance to Geometry in the fall.

Please Note: Students must be picked up at 12:30 p.m. unless enrolled in afternoon Summer Program classes. Afternoon bus service is available only at 3:00 p.m.

Course Fee: $2,940
