Story

“When I was in Spain, there was a street with hundreds of homeless people lying in it. It destroyed the whole trip for me. I couldn’t get past it. Knowing our world is in this state where we have people living like this? There’s got to be a way to end it. That’s what I want to do in my life: end homelessness.

I’ve done a lot of projects. Many failed. Many worked. I’ve raised $15,000 to help the homeless. I’ve held canned food drives and collected sleeping bags. I volunteer at different homeless shelters throughout the year.

I tried to end hunger with an idea to take a plant that is across L.A. county and make it edible. I realized there was a lot of legal stuff to make it happen and 50,000 signatures needed. So I backed away from that one. But a mistake is actually not a mistake. It’s how you learn from it. It’s how you try to take the mistake and make it better.

Chadwick is the most amazing school you’ll ever be able to go to. The teachers are so understanding and helpful. They’re always there for you. Everyone here is so peaceful and kind. The campus is so big and welcoming. I’m just so lucky to go here.”

About Josh

“Josh is a curious student. He’s inquisitive. His compassion for others and the less fortunate is phenomenal. He steps out and creates these programs to help them. He’s very grateful for what he has and cares about other people.

Chadwick gives students like Josh an avenue, a platform, for community service. The school is founded on core values. Chadwick has given Josh designated areas for his canned drives and other donations.

We give him a voice. Chadwick is an environment where a person like Josh can thrive. We encourage students to reach out and do something beyond themselves. At Chadwick, we’re here to graduate good human beings. The Village is a good foundation for that.”
