Chadwick School’s application period begins one year in advance of a child’s anticipated entry. For your convenience, your application can be filled out online and all supplemental documents are listed below. 

Our main admission entry points are kindergarten, sixth, seventh and ninth grades. We accept applications to all grades, but for those that are not main entry points, space is dependent on attrition.

Submitting Your Application

STEP ONE: Create an account to fill out and submit your online application.

Application fees: 

  • $125 for grades K-4 (includes testing or evaluation fee)
  • $125 for grades 5-12 (testing fee additional, payable to the ERB for the ISEE)
  • $250 for international applications for all grades
    (Please contact the Office of Admission for more information on international applications before submitting yours)

STEP TWO: Complete all grade-appropriate support documentation.

STEP THREE: Schedule interviews and testing.

We’re committed to learning all we can about our applicants and their families as they consider attending Chadwick. Once your online application has been submitted and processed, we’ll begin scheduling a series of evaluations, visits and interviews. Parents are responsible for scheduling student ISEE testing for grades 5 through 12. 

important Dates

The application due date is January 14, 2019. All decisions for admission to the 2019-20 academic year will be communicated to prospective families in March of 2019. These decisions will be released on Friday, March 8, 2019, for grades 9-12 and on Friday, March 15, 2019, for grades K-8.

The financial aid due date is January 18, 2019 for online submission of the Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) and all required calendar year 2017 income tax-related documentation to School and Student Services (SSS by NAIS).

Calendar year 2018 income tax-related documentation is due by May 1, 2019 to SSS by NAIS for 2019-2020 financial aid consideration.

Scheduling Testing and Interviews

Kindergarten

Kindergarten applicants must be five years of age by Sept. 1 of the year of projected enrollment. 

  • Once your application is received, we will set up your child's Saturday visit, which includes an individual evaluation and group play time in our kindergarten facilities.
  • A second appointment will also be scheduled for your parent interview.

Grades 1 to 4

All children submitting applications for grades 1 through 4 are automatically scheduled to attend a Saturday morning testing session and group playtime. Please save the date, Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, for this visit. 

  • Tests are administered on the Chadwick campus. 
  • The costs for test administration and evaluation are included in your application fee.
  • Parent interviews are scheduled for all applicants in grades 1 through 4. A representative from the admission office will call to schedule the parent interview.

Grades 5 and 6

All fifth- and sixth-grade applicants are required to take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE), produced and scored by the Educational Records Bureau (ERB), an independent agency that provides admission testing nationally and internationally, for students who are applying to independent schools. 

  • Your student may take the examination at Chadwick School or at the ISEE site of your choice.
    • The ISEE must be taken by the Feb. 2, 2019, test date. 
    • The ISEE will be offered at Chadwick School on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, and Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019
  • All exams are scored by the ERB. The results are released only to the students’ families and to the schools that they have selected to receive that information.
  • Arrangements for the completion of the ISEE are the responsibility of each applying family. 
    • Reservations for testing are made through the ERB, and payment for the testing is made to that agency. 
    • The Chadwick school code, for registration and score reporting, is 052680.

All fifth- and sixth-grade applicants are scheduled for weekday group visits. A representative from the admission office will call to schedule these visits.

Parent interviews are scheduled for all applicants in grades 5 and 6. A representative from the admission office will call to schedule the parent interview.

Grades 7 and 8

All seventh- and eighth-grade applicants are required to take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE).   • Visit days provide an opportunity for prospective students to experience a typical day at Chadwick. Visit days are optional but they are encouraged for Middle School students. Interviews are part of the visit day. 
  • Visits typically extend from 7:55 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Shorter visit days are available upon request. 
  • Applicant visits and parent interviews are typically on the same day for your convenience and should be scheduled online following application submission.

Grade 9
