Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship
Innovation at Chadwick is a mindset — one that spans empathetic design, iterative problem-solving and strategic execution. It’s woven into daily learning, co-curricular experiences and real-world opportunities like internships, passion projects and field research. It’s not just about STEM — it’s about curiosity, discovery and turning creative ideas into solutions that matter. In Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship in Action (IDEA), robotics, coding, engineering and entrepreneurship converge through hands-on builds, working prototypes and venture pitches.
At the heart of it all is Chadwick’s state-of-the-art Innovation and Design Building — home to a makerspace, woodshop, computer science lab and robotics lab, fully equipped with 3D printers, laser cutters, a CNC machine and more. A full-time teacher and lab assistant provide expert guidance during both structured courses and open lab hours, helping students turn bold ideas into tangible outcomes. All students are introduced to the tools and technologies available in this facility, ensuring they can leverage its resources throughout their Upper School journey.
As they advance, students can go deeper — joining competitive robotics teams recognized at the regional, national and international levels or pursuing emerging technologies and innovative ideas through advanced coursework, independent exploration or internships. Offerings include courses such as AP Computer Science, Advanced Software Engineering, Business and Entrepreneurship and STEM Innovation and Research, along with a wide range of engaging math and science electives. These courses challenge students in a supportive environment and prepare them to lead with creativity, confidence and purpose.
Chadwick’s IDEA gives space for students to take their ideas from concept to impact.
