It’s a universal truth to which we can all relate: change can be hard.
That’s why here at Chadwick we take a purposeful approach to sixth grade. Our sixth-grade program is unlike any other sixth-grade learning experience. Acting as a bridge between our elementary school and our Middle School, sixth grade combines the best of both worlds. Students build their confidence and independence as they take on new levels of academic rigor similar to Middle School, while at the same time, they are free to have fun, as they feel the support and care of our elementary school.
We call this special place “Sixerville,” and our 80 students are known as “Sixers” because they are one strong, connected community, where each student feels a sense of belonging. They engage with each other and with their learning through new challenges in their course material, their schedule, different teachers and increased responsibilities. All subjects are taught by expert teachers in math, English, science, social studies and global languages — and Sixers choose their courses in language, the arts and physical education. STEM and Leadership classes are essential parts of the experience, helping Sixers think critically, collaborate and lead with purpose.
Our sixth-grade program is a natural, purposeful way to help students ease into higher learning and increased independence with a solid foundation of social and emotional support.

“Teachers organized every part of the Mission to Mars project, and I had freedom to make it my own experience. Even if our team’s lander or rocket failed, we’d learn and move on to make it better next time.”
