Global Education
When we’re young, our world is relatively small.
We know our family, our community, our school — but as we get older, we realize the world is a big, fascinating place filled with different people, cultures, places and perspectives. At Chadwick we develop the global lens early on.
The Chadwick Sixth-Grade Experience offers students an early and immersive introduction to global education. From the very beginning of the sixth grade, students begin to understand that the world is both vast and deeply connected — and that learning can cross oceans.
In English and social studies, for example, select units are co-designed and co-taught with teachers from Chadwick International, our sister school in South Korea. This collaboration gives students a firsthand look at both the shared traits and the cultural differences between peers who live across the Pacific. During our annual teacher exchange, Chadwick Palos Verdes students are taught by a Chadwick International teacher for a unit — and vice versa — building real connections with both educators and classmates from another part of the world.
This global perspective continues in language study. For the first time, all sixth graders take a global language as a core subject, developing speaking, listening, reading and writing skills while deepening their appreciation for other cultures.
These experiences aren't just about learning new content — they’re about expanding worldviews. The earlier students begin to see the world as diverse, interconnected and full of possibility, the more likely they are to grow into confident, compassionate and curious global citizens.
