Where Students Learn To Learn
Education at Chadwick goes beyond facts and formulas. It’s about sparking curiosity, drawing connections and cultivating the skills to think critically and creatively. Our students don’t just memorize content — they explore how ideas evolve, why they matter and how to apply them to a rapidly changing world.
How Chadwick Students Own Their Learning |
---|
This type of learning is powerfully supported by our small class sizes, which enable teachers to provide regular, meaningful feedback and truly support every student's individual learning journey. It also ensures students have a real voice in every classroom, encouraging participation rather than passive learning. Our environment captures the spirit of taking bold steps, getting involved and embracing every opportunity with confidence. Whether it’s leading a project, exploring the outdoors or engaging in global experiences, students at Chadwick don’t stand back and wait on the sidelines — they jump right in. We go far beyond memorization, guiding students to analyze, empathize, collaborate, adapt, overcome and truly understand — essential skills that will serve them throughout their academic, professional and personal lives. |
A Chadwick Education is a Transformative Experience with Lifelong Benefits
We’re able to offer such an experience because we invest back into our students and school. Through tuition and other financial support, we’re able to continuously improve our campus and facilities, hire expert and caring faculty, develop new programs and offer innovative experiences with measurable results.

At Chadwick, we believe an exceptional education should be within reach for every curious, motivated learner regardless of financial circumstances. This belief started with our founder, Margaret Chadwick, and it continues to guide us today. We’re proud to be a diverse and inclusive community where students from all backgrounds are supported, challenged and inspired.
To help make Chadwick accessible, we offer a robust, need-based financial aid program for students in every grade. Our goal is simple: to open doors for bright, passionate students and give them the opportunity to reach their full potential.
- 23% of Chadwick students receive financial aid.
- $34,250 average annual award.
- 75% of tuition is average annual award.
- $7M+ in financial support awarded in 2025–26.
- 5% of financial aid budget is earmarked for supplemental support (buses, textbooks, technology, athletics, global programs and more).
Financial Aid
This need-based program provides assistance for tuition costs as well as many of the "extras" like bus transportation, textbooks and our global programs. It considers a host of different factors and context, such as assets, income, expenses, debts and any other information noted on the application and during the application process. We take our time to review these carefully to make sure an informed decision can be made.
The application process runs in parallel to the school application and, to apply, you should start by marking on your inquiry form that you intend to apply for financial aid or reach out with any questions to our Director of Financial Aid James Eberhart at jeberhart@chadwickschool.org.
If you are ready to apply now, use the image below to begin your Clarity application. The application opens each year in mid-September and is due for returning families on Monday, Dec. 15 or new families on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026.
Named Scholarships
For those who have the interest and qualifications, two named scholarships are available to help make a Chadwick education a reality. These are made possible thanks to the generosity of families and foundations who have seen firsthand the transformative power of a Chadwick education. Our supporters know what we know: students with keen minds and undeniable drive will always be worthy of investment. As with other financial aid at Chadwick, these are part of our robust need-based program and require completed Clarity applications on the same timeline indicated above.
MacFarlane Leadership Scholarship (New Ninth Graders) |
---|
Designed to promote diversity in the student body, this need-based scholarship is for incoming ninth graders who show high academic achievement, leadership — or leadership potential — and outstanding character. This scholarship is reserved for students with demonstrated financial need to meet the cost of tuition, and whose potential will be supported by Chadwick’s academic, social and leadership opportunities. In addition to providing assistance for tuition, this Scholarship also includes a cohort-based Leadership class that meets for each of the Scholar's four years in our Upper School. Along with this learning across the grade levels about leadership in both philosophy and in practice, this program includes fullyfunded travel opportunities both domestically and internationally that are not available to other students. Recent trips have taken Scholars to South Korea and South Africa and are planned each year by the older Scholars in the cohort. The scholarship is awarded annually to three new ninth grade students and is renewed each school year based on an annual qualifying financial aid application, as well as the student maintaining a satisfactory academic and disciplinary record. |
Malone Scholarship (New Seventh Graders and Above) |
A generous gift from the Malone Family Foundation, this scholarship is available annually to excellent students with demonstrated financial need who are applying to Chadwick for seventh to 12th grades. Chadwick awards one new Malone scholarship on an annual basis. The goal of the Malone Scholarship is to provide an outstanding education to students who demonstrate exceptional intellectual ability and achievement. Students who are considered for this opportunity will have exhibited a keen desire to learn and enthusiasm for maximizing their educational opportunities, yet are not able to meet the full tuition cost of a Chadwick education. The amount of the scholarship will depend on the need documented by the scholar’s family through the financial aid application process. |
