Getting Here
Transportation is an essential part of the Chadwick community experience. All Chadwick students either ride a Chadwick bus to school or participate in our carpool program. These programs reduce car traffic on campus while connecting students from neighborhoods across the South Bay and Los Angeles.
Eligible carpools have a minimum of two students — or three if the driver is a student — and the school can help families find carpools in their neighborhood. About a third of students ride the bus to or from campus. Each year, we work with families to ensure bus routes and stops are safe and convenient for students.
Our dedicated bus drivers are familiar faces in the Chadwick community, returning year after year and building lasting relationships with the students they transport. For many of our youngest students, the day begins with a trusted driver walking them to their classrooms and greeting them by name, and our older students often invite drivers to graduation celebrations.
We take pride in a transportation program that responds to our community's needs. It supports families while reducing Chadwick’s overall carbon footprint, so we can continue offering this educational opportunity for many years to come.

Timing varies based on how far the stops are from Chadwick. 40-Minute Bus Routes (Long Beach, Carson, Inglewood, Westchester and Ladera Heights) 30-Minute Bus Routes (San Pedro, Manhattan Beach, Lawndale and Rancho Palos Verdes) Less Than 30-Minute Bus Routes (Redondo Beach, Torrance and Palos Verdes Estates) Wednesdays are a late-start day, so bus pickup times are about 45 minutes later on those mornings. Fridays are an early-dismissal day, so afternoon drop-off times are about 30 to 45 minutes earlier. On weekday afternoons, a shuttle runs from campus to a local meeting area roughly every 20 minutes, so families can pick up their students without having to come up the hill to campus. For students involved in after-school activities, a “late bus” allows students to stay on campus for Upper School athletics or the performing arts throughout the year. These buses typically leave campus at 5:45 p.m. |
| What is the Botanic Garden Shuttle? |
|---|
|
Students without a regular carpool to school have a convenient local option to be dropped off and picked up each day: the "BG Shuttle." These daily shuttles are either white school vehicles (Suburbans or vans) with the Chadwick logo or a yellow Chadwick Shuttle Bus that picks up students from the South Coast Botanic Garden, saving parents a drive up and down the Academy Hill neighborhood. The South Coast Botanic Garden (SCBG) is located at 26300 Crenshaw Blvd, Palos Verdes Estates, CA 90274. Chadwick shuttles depart from Roessler Hall and the main parking lot on the Chadwick campus. As parking spaces on campus are limited/not guaranteed, the BG Shuttle is especially helpful in ensuring our on-campus events are accessible for everyone.
