Homecoming Memories

Photographic Memories

We asked Upper School students and staff to share their favorite image and memory of this year's Homecoming experience

Homecoming Week at Chadwick is a blur of color, noise and school spirit: forts rising across campus before sunrise, dodgeball showdowns, a lip-sync competition and plenty of moments in between. When the week wrapped up, we asked students and faculty to share a favorite photo and tell us what it means to them. Their answers ranged from the thrill of a senior victory to the satisfaction of a fort finally standing to a quiet breakfast with colleagues. Together, they capture what Homecoming is really about: the people, the friendships and the community that make life on the Hill so special.

SENIORS

Photo: The Dream Team

After our final dodgeball game, the senior team gathered for a photo. We’re decked out in athletic gear and holding up No. 1 fingers to celebrate our win. The victory was a great way to kick off our last Homecoming Week ever, setting the tone for everything that followed. Surrounded by my closest friends, all laughing and smiling, I couldn’t have asked for a better way to go out. I’d give anything to relive it once more, but I’m so grateful to have lived it at all.

Photo: The Best Duo

This photo is my favorite from Homecoming Week because it captures the moment when all our planning paid off. As senior class president and vice president, Addie and I worked with the rest of Student Council for weeks to make this day as fun as possible. Seeing everyone laughing and having a great time made every late planning session worth it. I’m grateful to have shared this day with Addie and with everyone who helped make it happen!

Photo: We All Lend a Hand

This photo is especially meaningful to me because it shows my two best friends, Ryan and Newton, and me having fun working together on a small decoration for our fort. We were all energetic and determined to help our grade create the best-looking fort we could. I also remember us chatting about life and just relaxing in each other’s company. This moment captures our grade’s spirit and the community spirit of Homecoming Week as a whole: The people behind us are helping one another with poster decorations. The commotion in the background shows how eager everyone is to participate and lend a hand when needed.

SOPHOMORES

Photo: Sophomore Student Council Represents!

This photo represents my favorite memory of Homecoming Week! In the days before fort building, Josiah, Audrey and I were both extremely excited and slightly stressed about how our fort would turn out. We all woke up early to get to school by 6:30 a.m., and many of our classmates pitched in with their own materials and snacks to bring the fort together. Eventually, our fort was built. It showed how dedicated we were to giving our classmates the best experience possible and how much hard work the sophomore class put into Homecoming Week overall. The experience left a lasting impression on me, and it’s a memory I’ll cherish for years to come.

Photo: I ♥ Chadwick

This photo is especially meaningful to me because it shows me with two of my closest friends right before lip-sync. Lip-sync is one of my favorite Homecoming Week activities. Our whole group coordinated matching white T-shirts reading “I ♥ ___,” filled in with something we love that’s not LA. It was a spin on the “I ♥ LA” shirts, since the last song we danced to was “Ain’t in LA.” We paired them with denim and sunglasses. I always love lip-sync because everyone comes together to practice, get creative and work toward something we can be proud of.

FACULTY/STAFF

Photo: First-ever Faculty Fort

“One of my favorite moments from Homecoming Week was sharing breakfast with our Upper School faculty and staff in the first-ever Faculty Fort. It was wonderful to see everyone come together, laugh and embrace the excitement and spirit of the week. This moment captured what makes Chadwick so special: the relationships and sense of community that bring us together. Homecoming is about creating meaningful memories and celebrating our community. And the Faculty Fort was pretty spectacular!”
